Her senses were dulled due to the weather and the wound to her head, but she could smell someone or something moving closer to her. The hard rain bore down on her, random flashes of lightening illuminating the area around her. She tredged on for the sake of her injured dragon, but suddenly slipped in the mud at her feet.
Her body was sore and tired, her sword heavy to carry, but yet she tried to raise herself up out of the mud to continue. The red vampire shine in her eyes grew dull with her hunger that contributed to her weakness. An almost silent warning growl passed over her red lips with the unknown scent growing very close.
A voice startled her, giving her a rush of adrenaline to rise from the mud and pull her sword into a protective stance. "Who are you!" she demanded, not yet seeing the man who spoke. Her shoulders relaxed with his offer of help that she had no choice but to accept. Nodding her head, she put her sword back into it's place over her shoulder and began to carefully follow him through the mud.
Domini and the red queen flew over the tiny landscape, enjoying the peace and quiet. Her mind wandered, the dragon and she sharing thoughts of things happening at home through their mind link. Suddenly lightning cracked close to them and both dragon and rider jumped in surprise. Before they could react, it was dark around them and a storm was in the air.
Terrible turbulence surrounded them, Dom clinging to the beast, the dragon's muscles flexing beneath her as the creature worked to stay in control of it's flight. Suddenly another lightning bolt cracked, but this time it nicked the dragons wing, making it tuck it in to itself, causing them fall downward. Dom hung on trying to 'speak' to the red queen, but she was in to much pain. Dom could see the ground closing in on them and pleaded with the dragon, who lifted her damaged wing to slow their descent some.
The wind whipped around them as they landed very ungracefully into a huge forest. The sudden hard landing threw Dom off of the dragon and into some large rocks. Darkness came over her as her body cried in pain....
Cool wetness on her face made Dom open her eyes to see the dragon laying close to her, the rain falling softly onto them. She moved to sit up as the pain in her head let her know she had been hurt. Reaching up with her hand, she felt the wetness in her hair and bringing her hand down, she saw the blood.
After a few moments, she slowly sat up and crawled to her dragon, who was lying very still but was alive. She touched the dragon's head and tried to 'talk' to it, but her head was full of red pain. Sitting down, she leaned up against the dragon, partly shielded from the rain, pulling her pack down from the dragon's back and dug out the bottle of whiskey which luckily hadn't broken.
She knew she had to get up and get the dragon some help, so she opened the bottle and drank some of the whiskey. She needed to feed, but she was to weak to hunt. Looking at the dragon again, she noticed a wound that was bleeding a bit. Crawling over, she ran her hand over the blood and brought it to her lips, licking it off her fingers. After a few times, she felt like she could walk so she took a white cloth out of her pack and pressed it to the dragon's wound.
Taking her sword from the pack on the dragon's back, she gave the creature a reassuring pat before standing and beginning to walk through the forest. She had no clue where she was or what she would find, but she had to find the dragon help so they could get back home. Her head throbbed with a dull ache, her body protesting in pain as she slowly moved through the forest in the rain.
